"Give me liberty or give me death!" Patrick Henery says this as he ‘stabs’ himself with an ivory letter opener. He insists that they must fight. This speech persuaded the people around him that they must be fight against England. Henery states that fighting is the only way they will become free. Why did this speech make so many people to want to fight? How was he able to persuade so many people just by saying these few words and making this one movement? Does Thomas Paine use the same methods of persuasion as Patrick Henery?

The Speech of Patrick Henry was so effective in motivation because I believe he tried to relate himself to the rest of the citizens, and he cried for all the repressions that had been put on them, so that it seemed like his tactic was repetition of the struggles, which motivated for final action. Thomas Paine's approach was different. His writing seemed alot more opinion than facts. His way of motivation was saying that people who don't fight are cowards and anyone who believes that the British will eventually give mercy have only to suffer. The two methods are different.
We've all heard that it takes two people to fight. This sole reason made Patrick Henry's speech so motivating. Patrick Henry tells about the many crimes that Britain had committed to prevent them in their journey to becoming a country. For example, Henry talks about their arguments being in vain because even with putting off war and petitioning, their actions have been in vain. Getting the House riled up was a perfect way to motivate them and make them want to fight.
Thomas Paine and Patrick Henery has similiar methades of persuasion. Patrick Henery tried more to find the fear in the people that he was speaking to and let the fear loose, and then tell them that the only way to conqure your fear was to do what he was saying, the second way that he persuaded the people,was what Leslie said, he related to them. Thomas Paine took a diffrent approach as 'if you want you can jump on my band wagon'. Here he said what he wanted to say. Mr. Henrey persuadaded the people be showing them how passionate he was in his cause. Anyone can say a few words, or give a motion, but if you put passion into your voice you can inspire a group of people to fight for what they trule desire, This speech made so many people want to fight because they knew what punishment he would get for speaking out and Mr. Henrey was passionate for the fight for freedom that it made other people what to change their lives, and they were told the only way that they could do that is to fight. Fight for freedom.
