"The History of the present king of Great Britain is a history of unremitting injuries and usurpations, among which appears no solitary fact to contradict the tenor of the rest, but all have in direct object to the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states." (Thomas Jefferson, The Declaration of Independence) The King of England stood for everything Thomas Jefferson and American citizens hated; lack of freedom, lack of privacy, and a general disregard for human rights, and was viewed by most as a controlling tyrant. Thomas Jefferson and the American people were sick and tired of the way they were treated by the leaders of England and were desperate to secede. So when the declaration was in its writing stages Thomas Jefferson and company needed a strong case justify separating from the oppressing ways of the King. This leads me to my answer, the reason Thomas Jefferson took the time to write all 18 paragraphs out as well as using the word "He" so frequently (in relation to the king), was so that he could better prove the king of England as a tyrant and strengthen his case to "reject and renounce allegiance and subjection to the kings of Great Britain." (Thomas Jefferson, The Declaration of Independence) When Thomas Jefferson wrote the declaration of independence he obviously had an agenda. That agenda was to not only free America from the king of England, and to prove him as a tyrant, but also to make America a better place for generations to come.
